This earthy collection is inspired by the rich God-colors we find in creation as the globe yields a harvest palette of rich, ripe hues. Before fall ushers in the darkness of winter, it gives us an opportunity to enjoy the fruits of our labor, and to pull out a chair so we can share our bounty with others. This handmade collection—the fruit of artisan labor—not only puts food on the table for Kenyans and refugee makers empowered by Mercy House Global; it also serves as a reminder to share the light in the darkness.
“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!” Matt. 5:15-16 (MSG)
ARTISAN DETAILS: Amel
Amel fled Iraq with her family in the fall of 2019 and relocated to Houston as part of the Refugee Resettlement Program. When the Mercy House Global team first visited this family's apartment, they immediately noticed Amel had used resources (like pinecones, greenery, and recycled fabric) she found easily to creatively decorate their home. She was eager to turn her natural ability into a way to help provide for her family.
