This earthy collection is inspired by the rich God-colors we find in creation as the globe yields a harvest palette of rich, ripe hues. Before fall ushers in the darkness of winter, it gives us an opportunity to enjoy the fruits of our labor, and to pull out a chair so we can share our bounty with others. This handmade collection—the fruit of artisan labor—not only puts food on the table for Kenyans and refugee makers empowered by Mercy House Global; it also serves as a reminder to share the light in the darkness.
“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!” Matt. 5:15-16 (MSG)
Street Hope is comprised of sixteen women in Mathare Slum in Nairobi, Kenya, who have lived most of their lives on the streets. Many were orphaned as children and have only known a life of poverty, while others became homeless due to difficult circumstances, forcing them to do whatever necessary to survive. Mercy House Global began training and employing these women in 2016, and one by one they have moved into homes, gaining skills, confidence, and overcoming addiction.
